I have to go help set up tables at the church and get it ready for our annual Seder dinner tonight.
I attended a church many years ago that did many things in conjunction with the local Jewish community. Once, a rabbi came to teach us about the seder. He apologized that he had to make a substitution: the bitter herbs were not available at that late date so he had substituted celery.
Have you ever hear 700 people bite down on celery in unison? It sounded like a redwood tree had split in half right there in the sanctuary.
He kind of lost the crowd for a few minutes as we laughed our heads off.
