I hate orange peel walls. For one thing, they dull the paint (which some might like, I guess). Also, it takes much more paint to cover them than with a smooth wall.
The up side is that they can disguise a multitude of sins that are blatant on a smooth wall.

the new term I noticed, "orange peel painted walls"If paint is applied correctly in many, many coats (on purpose) with a coarse roller and dried between coats, you can achieve a finish that looks like leather. I'm talking 15 to 20 coats. But achieving that great look is beyond the budget and the skill level of most homeowners.
