In the Movie G I Jane, the heroine is given this poem by DH Lawrence after she proves herself:
Self-pity
I never saw a wild thing
sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself.

Pinkett has been on several talk shows crying over her loss of hair.
Maybe she felt she was being accused of self pity, despite all her fame and wealth. A stretch.
Or something to distract us from today’s news? ✔️

Thank you for the update. I fully appreciate and even enjoy seeing a man defend the honour of his woman, but the slap/assault was uncalled for. Smith’s wife is half of a power couple and she has her own forums that she could have used to respond to Chris Rock. The joke or reference was probably in poor taste but Smith’s overreaction made things worse, not to mention created the spectacle of resorting to violence in the name of love. It makes me wonder if Smith is having trouble coming to terms with his wife’s affliction that leaves her balding and if her patchy baldness is an embarrassment to him.
My Dad had alopecia areata the last 25 years of his life and he often joked about it. There’s nothing much that can be done about an autoimmune disease except to try to strengthen your immune system in an attempt to minimize the symptoms. Hollywood people should be more like my Dad was and not take themselves so seriously.
