“Also comparing wi-fi casting to physical cable connection

The cable is fully superior, I found a “cast” from laptop to monitor is tenuous, it eventually drops and is often laggy or smears/freezes.”

It’s an issue with your hardware (computer/wiFi router/TV...

I use a Mac Mini / WiFi mesh router / Apple TV ==> HDMI to TV.

The Mac Mini has more than 500 movies and we watch them on several TVs often. The video and sound quality is superb and we never have any lag or freeze issues!

Most of the movies I ripped and converted to .mp4 files but at least 150 have been purchased from the Apple store and downloaded.

FWIW the Mac Mini is a 2011 version and the Apple TVs are 3rd generation so it’s not because I’m running the ‘latest’ technology/chip/processor.

I might look into something like that after we settle in from an impending move.

But we don’t have any Apple anything technology wise even as modern as yours. Just an old quad-core Powermac out in the garage, was going to edit video with it once upon atime.

This is a small needs one monitor household so putting a laptop close enuf to run cable to it works good for now
