NTSB said Thursday that a 13-year-old [Mennonite] boy was driving the pickup truck that hit the van near Andrews, Texas
He was in the car with his father Heinrich Siemens, 38. Both died, with seven people in a bus they crashed into also losing their lives after Tuesday night's smash
This is the second tragedy to befall the family recently. Before Christmas 2021, the boy burned the family house to the ground after he left the stove unattended while cooking some eggs, according to a family friend
‘Tina Riemer wrote on Facebook that the “sweet 13 year old boy who lost his life in this accident was my nephew. He was great friends with my son. He loved dirt bikes, working anything mechanical. His knowledge for a 13 year old was impressive when it came to working on diesel tricks and cars. He was super smart in that area. He was hard working and a good big brother. A wonderful friend and cousin to my son.”’

The egg-cooking fire story sounds like the kind of excuse you come up with when your “problem child” is “acting out.”
Hate to think about it, but I wonder if the kid drove into the van on purpose.

Every once in a while the FReepers get it right in saying that a tragedy was caused by an Amish-—well, somewhat close to Mennonite.
N/M!!
Just saw your post describing this kid as the son.
Sounds like he wound up as overcooked as those eggs.
Oops just posted the same thing about the fire.
