Ukrainian police said Sunday that a U.S. video journalist was killed in the Kyiv suburb of Irpin, which has been devastated by Russian attacks as Moscow’s invasion enters its third week.
Although the police statement described the filmmaker, Brent Renaud, as a New York Times staffer, he is a former contributor who was not on assignment in Ukraine at the time, according to the Times.

The story has already been debunked, more Western propaganda, he was killed by the Ukrainians. Get used to it.
Thrill seeker. Thousands will die in Ukraine, it's a war zone.
He was there “for fun.”
There’s a picture pass with he had with the wording “Peacekeeper” at the top.
Now, that’s a funny one!
Of course Biden-bro Drudge has his NYT credential on the front page

That fellow(RIP)is from Little Rock and
has deep Clinton Foundation associations.
Says who? Like Russia has a free press.
I didn’t say he wasn’t killed, just that it wasn’t the Russians that killed.
And why would they kill him, when they can simply jail him if they want - he was MUCH MORE VALUE to Ukraine being dead, given our media, than to Russia.
“The story has already been debunked, more Western propaganda, he was killed by the Ukrainians. Get used to it.”
Can you provide your source?
“Says who? Like Russia has a free press.”
Like we do? I figured it was a lie since 80% of what’s coming out of Western media on the invasion are lies. There’s now people saying such about this.
I didn’t say you said he wasn’t killed. But all outlets agree that it was the Russians that did the killing.
As to why they would kill him, it was because a car was going by them and they shot at it because that’s what Russians are doing. They didn’t know it was Bret Renaud in the car, or even a non-Ukrainian.
They were told to shoot at anything that moved, so they did.

Not sure why Russians would be shooting at him at a Ukrainian checkpoint, but even so, not too wise to shoot through a checkpoint, any checkpoint, in a war zone.
80%? I’d say a more realistic statistic is, some things coming out of Western media are lies. Some aren’t. Each story should be investigated and judged on its merits.
His ID also said he worked for NYT but NYT said he wasn’t working for them; he had worked for them previously.
“Ukrainian police said...”
Another question: How did Ukrainian police get to the scene if he was killed by Russians? Did the Russians really kill him and then hand his body over to the Ukrainians so that they (Russia) could be blasted in the media?
When things don’t add up, it’s usually more Western lies.
Because he wasn’t a him. He was a moving object. Do you think the Sioux and Cheyenne were only scalping whites at Little Big Horn? In war, lots of people get killed, and usually the party doing the killing doesn’t take time to differentiate and have a “why” for each shot fire.
Probably, the conscript-who-shot-him’s thoughts were “CAR!” and “SHOOT!” and then “OK. NEXT.” A fellow journo probably saw the whole thing.

Fair comment, although the media and the US government seem to be in a REALLY BIG HURRY to pin it on Russia, when only one side (the Ukrainians) are making the claim.
Because a battle for contested ground ebbs and flows. When they find a car with a dead American in it right where the Russians were temporarily driven back, they figure the Russians did it. A fair assessment.
