That “Z” isn’t unique to Ivan and his friends. Our own intel guys frequently add one someplace in their surname to disguise their family connections and screw up phone book searches, etc. Remember “Strozk”-—that wasn’t his actual family name?
In the case of the vehicles in Uke the “Z” seems to be used to designate a unit from Russia’s far east. There is also a “V”. The Ruskies you’re running into on the interwebs might very well be counter intel geniuses?

First I read about Russians adding Z to their screen names.

Then I saw an example in a Russian band whose music I liked (I like all kinds of music from around the world).

The leader announced that he was leaving Facebook, as they probably wouldn’t like what he would soon be posting. He had just added Z to his screen name as well.

He gave a Telegram link so I went to check it out and he was posting like... Ukrainians are all Nazis so kill ‘em all Rah! Rah!
