Mrs. Slim is recoil adverse, so I got her a S&W 351. Eleven ounces 7 shot .22 Mag.
I was the sporting clays instructor at a local range. I taught many ladies how to bust clays. One went on a pheasant hunt in South Dakota. When I asked how it went she said it was like shooting a piñata compared to clays.
Carry the largest caliber you can shoot comfortably is my advice to ladies but carry. 22 mag at close range wouldn’t be much fun. Mine carries model 19 short barreled S&W on a belt holster when riding in the mountains with her lady friends. She started small and worked her way up. The model 19 is loaded with 38spl, 357 mag is not on her menu. I load magnums in the mountains and light range loads for range time.
I’ll hijack the thread a little and ask what you would recommend for a shotgun for someone getting into sporting clays? Not $10k for a finely engraved Beretta.
