I believe there needs to be a complete reformulation of criminal justice in the west. What we inherited from English common law works in a nation of educated ladies and gentlemen, but not in a nation where vast swaths are infested with basically savages.

English law used to deal with savagery quite well. Until the 1960s, if you murdered someone, you’d very likely go to the gallows. And you wouldn’t wait for a decade or two for sentence to be carried out.
