What? There was only one gag! (Meg being normal) (Wait... does that mean she’s terminally un-super, or already a superhero?
And the Hollowoodies aren’t going to let Pooty Pooh and his Commie Meanies see it. ROTFL!
The Justice League! Always thought Aquaman was super-lame though. Then again, there were the “Wonder Twins”, and “Gleek”. Ugh!
I heard a "it was very good, but not great" review from a film critic I respect. He said it was on account of the film's too-slow pacing at times. It is 3 hours long.
Actually, if the Batmobile sucked (looks like a tank instead of a Batmobile), and the actor playing Bruce Wayne also sucked (Christian Bale, who 'disguised' Batman from Bruce Wayne by doing a throat cancer voice when he was in the Batman costume), then it WOULD be The Dark Knight.
The director didn't want to do another reboot storytelling... so he signed on to direct the umpteenth remake of Batman.
In completely unrelated news, an A-list Hollywood director who is vehemently against doing another Sylvester Stallone action movie has just signed on to direct Rambo 6!
Scrooge McDuck, Sgt. Rock, Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Foghorn Leghorn, Woody Woodpecker . . .
Youthful and Unhealthy all the way.
Yep. In fact the comic wasn't even called The Batman...
For those who watched: Appropriate for 14 year old boy? Any sexual content?
Can’t beat Dark Knight. So why would I want to watch this? They should put the franchise on ice for a couple of years. I think the story would be better through a miniseries if they can do it over on HBO or Netflix but with high production value filming.
Batman movie sucks. Supergirl is where it is at. OK I will admit that Tom Hardy as Bane was peak Batman. With Michael Caine 2nd.
You don’t hear much from Scrooge McDuck these days. Or Porky Pig.
How much did you pay for your ticket?
Regards,
You say,
“You don’t hear much from Scrooge McDuck these days. Or Porky Pig.”
That’s because Disney and Warner Bros are big into pederasty.
Probably about $.75. The theater was in Dallas, where we had to spend a weekend while trying to get from NYC to LA during the Great Airplane Strike.
As Sikel and Ebert said years ago, early movie makers were raised on great literature and made movies of them.
Today’s movie makers were raised on Comic Books.
I watched THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO (1934) with Robert Donat last night. Great movie! Better than funny books.
The original Batman was the 1943 serial with Lewis Wilson as the Batman.
With the popularity of the 1960s TV show these old serials were brought out, recut to shorter lengths and beat the the Adam West version to the theaters.
She had a point. I was quite the comic book aficionado when I was 13. In fact, neighborhood kids would come to my house to check out my extensive collection because many of their parents wouldn't allow comic books in the house.
By time I was 16, comic books no longer had appeal to me. I had grown up. I also never got into video games except a brief fixation with PacMan and Space Invaders in the early 1980s at the Marine Corp e-club in Camp Pendleton. But I eventually ran out of quarters. An enlisted man only makes so much.
Movies based on comic books never appealed to me. I found the much ballyhooed "Dark Knight" pretty awful and completely not believable. Now a suspension of disbelief is essential to appreciate most movies, but this was just way over the top.
