My husband puts the phone down, lets them do their spiel, then says, “Could you repeat that”? Works every time.

When we still had our land line....and, would accidentally answer a spam call.....I’d always ask them for their home phone number, so I could call them, later.
They’d of course, refuse...and, say....I don’t give that out. I’d say...well. you’re calling ME, on my home phone, during dinner, and I’d like to return the favor, at my convenience.
