Another example why the 17th Amendment should be repealed. The current system puts senators way too deeply into the national politics of the day. If they were so beholden to the national parties - because of money. They might be more immune to pressures to nominate a sex & a race. Personal legal acumen irrelevant!
Maybe in repealing the 17th replace it with a slightly modified version of what the Founding Fathers intended to give the states an even stronger say.
It couldn’t be worse then what we have now.
