My father’s favorite. I can hardly bear to play it now. He’s been gone almost 10 years. I miss him more than I can say. I still hear “No other love have I” and the tears begin.

Actually, in the historical film the music was titled “Beneath the Southern Cross” chronicling the war effort in the South Atlantic. That’s right, the South Atlantic, not the South Pacific.

Richard Roger’s later incorporated the melody into a Broadway play and added the lyrics to make it “ No other love have I”

Many are not aware of the combat in the South Atlantic. The movie “The Enemy Below” takes place there.
