I want a few ounces of gold

Posted on 02/26/2022 8:32:53 AM PST by LouAvul

Not interested in an investment. It's purely for the sake of just having some gold.

Now is not the time to buy it, but, I've heard of people buying gold from dealers, and later discover it's not real.

I understand the difference between spot price and market price, but a couple of stores have been recommended.

Tulsa Gold and Silver. For example.

My question is, can such a place be trusted?

If you’re that old, sell them and enjoy them.

Ammo is harder to find........ I suggest trying the bottom of popular fishing lakes.

I bought 1 Krugerrand back then. $250. A year or two later it was worth $450.
I sold it. >sigh< wish I had it now……

+1 on that. I’ve bought silver from them. AND Provident Metals.
Copper is a good investment, as well. While not super valuable, it has appreciated quite a bit.

Looks like he is biting coin gold, 90% gold.
Easier with 24k coins.
But it is a good test, gold is soft compared to other metals.

Ammo is more valuable than gold.

I know what you mean ... but I'm curious now ... if I take you hyperliterally ...

1 Box of 9mm Federal AE 124-gr weighs 22.8 oz (google.com)

22.8 oz of gold is worth (as of yesterday) $43570 (cnbc.com)

$43570 buys more than 100 CASES of the above ammo (midwayusa.com)

Done ...

No argument here. I live for The Lord. What He gives me, I will share.

Like the Ukrainian President, if I die, it will be for the right reasons.

And really…wouldn’t you have both?

There is a lot of “country wisdom” on these threads. But in reality, you are not going to get rich very fast with gold. And you don’t want to live in a world where gold is $10k.

Are you really going to load up all of your possessions and gold and hit the road? Are your 10,000 rounds of 5.56 ever going to be used?

Sit down and have a plan. You would be better off having a months worth of expenses in cash on hand in case the banks go down. A couple hundred rounds of stored ammo would have you hunting for a couple of years.

There are a lot of doomsday folks in the gold and ammo threads.

Have a plan first. Be real. Then execute it.

“We didn’t find a whole lot of gold, but it was a great experience!

It is a lot of fun if you are not having to eat off the profits like in the 1800’s. And hopefully you weren’t attacked by claim jumpers. LA is full of them fresh across the border.

I’m originally from California and I’ve been to Big Bear fishing. Caught bass and trout, depending on where you were and what tackle. But that was a few years ago when there were probably a lot more fish there.

# I use APMEX.

# Top quality. Reliable.

Second this recommendation, from personal experience

https://www.jmbullion.com/ is also legit.

if you’re concerned about purity, get things from national mints rather than private mints. Eagles are good and easy to sell on secondary market, as are Brittanias. You’ll pay more per ounce, but they are easier to resell later.

# Me too for silver rounds. I like silver better then gold.

Silver is easier for smaller purchases. Gold is for big-ticket items.
