I’m just speculating here but I wonder if their senate was about to slap it down so Trudeau revoked it to remain in power. The timing is suspicious as their senate was debating this.

I was slammed with a lot of things yesterday and couldn’t weigh in on this until today. You’re very astute, Salthawk. That’s exactly what was about to happen. Individual senators were already questioning the heavy-handedness and inappropriateness of using the Act. I stayed up until 2:00 a.m. Wednesday emailing every one of the 91 senators and begging them not to endorse the invocation of the EA, stating that it was setting a frivolous and dangerous precedent. Many of my fellow-citizens did the same.
This is only noteworthy because nobody EVER writes their senators here in Canada. They’re largely a rubber-stamping organization but they do have the power to reject actions by the House of Commons. We believe a senator and party loyalist gave trudeau the heads up and gave him an opportunity to withdraw the measure on his own before he was publicly embarrassed. His revocation didn’t fool anyone.
This is a very good thing, but we’re left wondering what we do now. The mandates are still in place so we’re back to where we were in mid-January.
“I stayed up until 2:00 a.m. Wednesday emailing every one of the 91 senators and begging them not to endorse the invocation of the EA,...”
Well Done!
Thanks from your FRiends down South!
