Thing was that this bad check came from an event that happened on the county fair grounds and a little research showed dozens of other bounced checks at other events across the country.
I have been in business all my life. So I have had to deal with a lot of checks like that. Always get their driver’s license number on the check. In almost every state having the number on the check gives them to automatically issue a warrant for felony criminal check fraud. So the next time they are stopped for anything at all anywhere in the country they go straight to jail until the debt is satisfied plus fines etc. No hassle no fuss, in most states this is set in stone. But only if you have the license number on the check. Anything else is legally a civil dispute and they have very little authority to do anything about it.
