I had wondered if there was an electoral college type system, so the cities wouldn’t outweigh the smaller towns and farms and ranches.

It is as I expected. The major cities have so many parliamentary seats and are so liberal that their political will overwhelms the rest of the country. Below is the map of how the country voted in 2021. Red areas are Liberal (very appropriate since they’re near-commies), orange is our far left party, the NDP, and blue areas voted Conservative. Conservatives won the popular vote, which is as meaningless is our country as it is in the US. The map shows that the Liberals won 160 seats, but one MP has left the Liberal party and is now an Independent.
