I agree about onyx. Miss both of them and their comments. Miss M provided info about mostly NYC and I think onyx was a big fan of the San Diego area.
So good to know, thanks. I really miss her commentary, though!
Yes eddie willers lived in suburban Atlanta. One of his professors in college was none other than Newt Gingrich. He often mentioned Newt. Eddie was a reformed liberal who came to conservatism after seeing the horrible treatment of Clarence Thomas by dems including Biden, in his confirmation hearing. I’m hoping he didn’t fall victim to covid.
Thanks very much for the link to the memorial wall.
I think I viewed it years ago when I was just a lurker, but had forgotten about it. Link now saved. Saw a few names there that I recall.
Will leave instructions for daughter to notify JimRob.
This is very true. The negativity and backbiting can get tiresome. Granted, there is a lot to be negative about...
Oh, that’s right. Mrs. Don O. I don’t know what The Briefing Room is. But I didn’t think she’d been gone for 4 years. Time flies.
I think the threads died when our beloved Granny passed.
As I remember MM posed for a little while after moving to Alabama but then her posting stopped about the time the Covid became wide spread. Hope she is well.
I think posting volume is a fraction of those days
It’s just an evolution of things .....the chronology of forums is a new “science “
We’ve lost prolific posters to death....we’re an aging forum
All forums age. 4chan is now probably mid 20s
Well when I joined here it was around 40 or so I’d guess median age
Then there are those who simply tire of it and leave
Then you have the purged....another matter and we’ve sure had some vitriol here over that in the hey day
people love where they live generally....or where they grew up...
everyone hates NYS but I grew up there....I love it there....still do although I haven't lived there for 40 yrs....
like El Paso...people who live there love it.....been there and the people are friendly and nice...
I've heard lots of good things about the old NY and I believe it was a special place so I can understand your good memories...
so ya'll come back ya hear....
When you think of yourself as important and relevant to the universe, go outside some evening, in the dark, and look up at the moon and stars. And realize that when you pass, you will be blessed if someone looking up at the night sky asks, “ I wonder whatever happened to…?”
Fondly remember others as you wish others to remember you. We’re here for a short while, less than a good dog is to your life.
I wish dogs lived longer
I’d wager that sentiment is held by all bu the most crotchety here
Yes, in the period from its launching February 1997, 25 years ago till maybe 2007, FR had it most active membership, after which, besides a significant Purge, saw the real rise of Facebook and Twitter, and the decline of Myspace, and the soon expositional rise of Smart phone use, which has led to the rise of TikTok as being the most popular website of 2021. So maybe a video of selected article summaries on the FR article page could be explored? But who will study the word of God in this Vanity Faire?
A dog will still love the most crotchety bastard. It’s what they do, or die trying.
But who will study the word of God in this Vanity Faire?
No one except those that choose to read, ….but you post anyway because you can’t know someone’s heart and when they are ready to hear God’s Word.
You have a role to play in this thing called Life, and you perform your best, even if you don’t know if or who is watching. Bless you for your part.
I was looking for him about 8 months ago. He finally responded to my pm that he was doing fine. Seemed to be surprised that he was missed. Didn’t come back.
At first I thought you were talking about André Leon Talley, who died this January; but he was from North Carolina; then I realized you're probably talking about Patrick Kelly? Awesome. He was a terrific designer.
“I Want My Clothes to Make You Smile”: The Life and Legacy of Patrick Kelly
I have been here since 1998 and have seen the forum age. Fr saved me during a hard time. Unlike some of the people here, although a daily regular I have never been a off forum friend of anyone. I have had dealings with folks but just never a sustained connection.
