They told us not to go yet and to wait for the blackout. I can shop for better boots in the interim. Mine are more decorative (tight-fitting, fur trim) and ill-suited to Ottawa weather. My rain boots with wool socks are actually warmer than my winter boots, but they’d be unsuitable in Ottawa too. Sorels will be suitable I think.
We’re generally a quiet but strong and proud group, and we can be pushed too far.
Does Sorels have waterproof (gortex) boots? That would probably be expensive but worth their weight in gold while standing on that frozen ground maybe while it’s snowing.

You might want to also check out SnoPac boots also. Less cost than Sorel’s but I’ve used them for cold weather hunting when in the snow and ice. If you go this route also pick up some mink oil to waterproof the leather. I’ve only bought two pairs in 45 years of hunting fowl.
