I watched the entire video conference and the organizers stated they have reports that the Ottawa stasi are bringing in police from other jurisdictions and will soon begin to surround the protesters. The prelude to this will be a communications blackout and cell service will go down prior to the action and the ensuing arrests. Once we get the sense that communications have gone dead, they’d like people to descend on Ottawa and be their reinforcements. I hate the bitter cold of that city and was happy to leave it years ago, but I guess I’ll be going to Ottawa. The organizers also said that they have support among the Ottawa police, though they don’t believe that 50% of the force has quit. Individual officers have been removed from the convoy duty though because their trucker sympathies became known.
We had a very ugly incident in 2010 at the G7 north of Toronto where protesters were surrounded, as they’re planning to do in Ottawa, and the police tear-gassed the protesters. That didn’t play well in the world and lawsuits are ongoing even today. The organizers don’t believe that will happen this time. There are also rumours that some of trudeau’s liberal caucus are turning against him. And the new interim leader of the Conservative Party, Candice Bergen, has finally spoken in support of the truckers. Trudeau only has a minority government and needs all the support he can get from the coalition members. Losing any of them will get us closer to a non-confidence motion that can bring down his government.
I maintain that trudeau’s fear level must have him changing his briefs hourly. There has to be more than the usual loss of face at stake for him to have dug his heels in so firmly on this issue. No matter what he does to the truckers now, he’s already lost.

I'd wager his fear is not of honest Canadians booting his sorry butt into ignominy but rooted in what he knows his real bosses at the W.E.F. (and above) will do to him for his failure. Likely he will disappear but not into "obscurity".
