That “purple” description seemed to come from someone who just didn’t quite know what he was seeing. Looking into a can of red offroad, and if the poly can itself was yellow or red, there could be a range of appearances. As best I can tell the Kanucks don’t have different colors of fuel. I buy off road all the time and, out in the open, it’s bright red.
The truckers most likely have small engines/generators/stoves/etc that can use I, D, or2. I remember back in the oil embargo in 1973 we had the fuel lab confirm for us that we could use all of them in our diesels-—just maybe needed to tune a little depending on which one. When it comes to fuel I expect the Mounties will be really polite and careful. They are not exactly licensed to be jerking around with it. Even more so, any HAZMAT guys who might be around.
