Instead of GoFundMe withholding and
redistributing, they should transfer
the entire amount to another monetary
distributor. They’ve opened themselves
up to multiple lawsuits. Though they
do have refund capabilities, they’ve
placed that burden on the donator to
request it. How many that donated $10.00
are just going to blow it off as not
worth the hassel?
If possible, everyone who contributed might want to think about joining together in a class action lawsuit. Possibly with a lawyer who is willing to work on a contingency basis.
GoFunMe knew what the Freedom Convoy was. If the CEO Tim Cadogen did not approve, then he shouldn't have accepted the money. Sounds like bait and switch to me. This is the third time he has frozen the funds! To me this is the "tell" indicating that Cadogan has been politically flip-flopping and hedging his political bets in hopes of winding up on the side of the "winner." Given the fact that he himself slammed the Federal response to the pandemic, he is revealing his own hypocrisy by freezing the funds of those who are not against the vaccines, but the mandates imposed by the Federal government.
I agree that the best thing GoFundMe could do would be to transfer the entire amount to another monetary distributer. It is not up to Tim Cadogan to impose his politically correct definition of what "misinformation" is.
