Condolences on your loss.
Beautiful tribute to a wonderful dog, and owner.
And a lovely thread that I can add little to other than to reiterate that your funny sweet pup would not want you to be sad on his account - and knew first hand, what a great life you could share with another…
Blessings, FRiend.
This is hard. Pets become family.
The only pet I didn’t grieve that hard, was one that I thought I’d grieve the hardest. He loved to sleep with me (little tuxedo cat). As far as mannerisms, he was basically me in cat-form.
But I was so dreading his departure that I started grieving him 3 or 4 years before he actually went. Then when he actually had to be put down, my grieving was extremely short. Very surprising to me and the girlfriend.
I had the view that, yes, I would miss him, but he had a long and great life with me.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
usc, you have some experience with this, perhaps you could share.
I see you already hit the thread. Good man.
Every time a fellow Freeper loses their beloved canine companion, I quietly grieve with them. I know that feeling, and despite having dogs with me my entire life (except these past four years) it never gets easier losing them.
I've taken to befriending all the neighborhood dogs since losing Teddy and dog sitting when a neighbor goes on vacation. I have so many wonderful canine friends now. It's my "therapy" and keeps me sane. (Well, less insane than I'd otherwise be.)
