In my case, that would be exceedingly cruel. My wife of 50 years spent most of our years together as a stay-at-home mom, caring for two special-needs sons. They are now adults, but they still require attention. Her care for them has cost her greatly.
I, on the other hand, have earned a good salary and have saved a lot and have provided a decent home and vehicles.
If I were to become suddenly selfish and divorce her, under your plan I would be doing a despicable thing.
