Watching him pretend to be drunk throughout most of a 90-minute movie got old after about 90 seconds. That sort of thing was considered humorous 40 years ago.

It actually was. Women fell hard for the hard-drinking Dudley Moore. My sister went and saw the movie nine nights in a row and wanted to marry him.
