My dad had a deep affection for the Paradise by the Dashboard Light album, which was always interesting to me since his normal favorites were things like Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and The Stattler Brothers. Mom could barely make it halfway through the any of the four sections of the 8-track before asking him to change it, and most of the family agreed, but Dad would still listen to it by himself a lot, when he could.
If your Dad was my age, the Bat out of Hell album was the soundtrack to his senior year of high school.
I made my young two daughters listen to it...and then explained the message behind it.
