“ If “the general close of military operations”

You are talking two things here. The occupation began on 20Jan21. Therefore the general close of military operations for the occupied (ie. capture of said territory) area had been completed. While ops remain, the occupation is a year old.

20Jan2020 is the one year anniversary.

If we grant that the Chinese are the occupiers, I think their occupation started long before the election in that they controlled many of the world’s politicians. The occupation was formalized on January 20, 2021, so I agree that the military operation in the US is at least a year old.

But the Q team knew this was coming and informed us that taking back the country would be a military operation (the military is the only way). I don’t believe the LoW Manual considers the term “military operations” as being only the occupiers’ operations. I believe that term encompasses the side whose territory is being occupied as well and, if so, there is no chance that the US military’s operations have been completed. I understand Section 11.3.2 of the LoW Manual to apply only upon completion of ALL military operations, not just the conquering side.

The section of the Manual in question speaks specifically about when the Geneva Convention protections for civilians end. They end one year after the end of the war, when all military operations are completed. We’re still at war, so this section doesn’t apply yet and the one year anniversary of the formal occupation is meaningless, as military operations by at least one side are continuing.

I have no particular inside information beyond what Q has posted, but this is the way I’m reading that section. If something happens tomorrow to change everything, nobody will be happier than I’ll be.
