Any time I have gone to see a traditional PPO doctor, I never actually get to see the MD... it's always a Physicians Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. I finally told my physician's office that if I can't see the actual doctor for my annual physical, that I wouldn't bother coming in. Damned if I'm going to repeat my entire history to a weepy-eyed 20-something who doesn't know her butt from a hole in the ground.
Since I joined a membership naturopathic practice, I've been super happy. The ND actually calls me every month just to see how I'm doing.
my exp with nurse practioners has been pretty good....rather see them then the doc...
nurse practioners started out with the idea of a very exp. nurse with many yrs of work furthering her education and then interning with a doc until she or he got his ARNP...
nowadays, the kids coming right out of nursing school are going right into practioner education....they have no experience at all...
