but why wht aren’t doctors at least prescribing antibiotic treatments with higher risk patients?

Without an indication of bacterial involvement, using antibiotics against a viral threat is just turning your body into a superbug factory. Your doc knew your wife's condition, unlikely for a doc in the ER with a walkin.

Makes sense. A simple cold can turn into into a nightmare for her and the doctor knows it. I’m surprised I haven’t gotten it as I have been her nurse for the last week. I knew it was going to be OK a few days ago when she started bossing me around. Thank goodness she is going back to work tomorrow.
