Back in the day Steven King's The Stand had a huge impact on me. It wasn't the supernatural bulk of the book that really made the impact. It was the beginning of the book that scared and scarred me for life. How it all unfolded so fast was the scary part. The virus in the book had a 100% infection rate, long incubation period and about a 99% kill rate. Nothing could stop that. This is why I was always sort of wary about NCSWIC. I've always kinda framed it like that. It's the macabre side of me, but I can't ignore it.
