Destiny Church leader Brian Tamaki has been denied bail and will be held in custody for 10 days after allegedly breaching bail conditions.
He will be remanded in custody until his next hearing on Thursday January 27.
The decision was made in Auckland District Court where Tamaki appeared via video link.
He will be held at Auckland's Mt Eden Prison.
It comes as he was arrested at his home by police on Monday morning.
"The man has been arrested in relation to a breach of bail conditions following an event in Christchurch on 8 January 2022," police said.
A statement from Brian Tamaki via Ron Mansfield QC released on Monday afternoon says "it is not accepted that he should have been remanded in custody".
"It is a sad day for the freedom of all New Zealanders when people cannot gather and be heard in opposition to government policy when they believe it to be wrong and contrary to the good of the people," the statement said...

New Zealand acts like Communist China it's government is no ally of mine or the Unites States.
The unvaccinated and or those who oppose compulsory vaccination, mandates, cocercion are being prosecuted and persecuted around the world.
It's not enough to say "I am against mandates" when it comes to vaccination and or demonize personalities like Dr. Anthony Fauci.
It is not enough when individual liberty is under attack.
And first that means rationality and from rationality comes the recognition of the need to recognize the independent rights of liberty, etc. which come not from man but from God.

The Djokovic thing is so funny because the “Conservatives” out there say Australia has a right to make its own rules to keep people out and control its border.
But Australia’s government argued in court over the weekend that Djokovic’s vaccine views were a threat justifying his expulsion.
The “Conservative Christian” Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s government demonizing Djokovic for being unvaccinated and having views in opposition to vaccination.
As for border control Australia and other countries have none for the sake of the Global Economy and that has allowed Omicron to spread.
The irony of Omicron spread is that closed off countries do better.
Iran has few COVID cases now that it’s been economically shut off from the world.
Russia has held Omicron off for weeks because it is largely cordoned off from the Global Economy.
And back to New Zealand the control of its border at this moment in time keeps Omicron out.
Jacinda Ardern is the leader of the “Woke World” I don’t care about genetics as much as I care about Cultural Marxist tyranny which her government represents.
She should be harshly sanctioned by the United States as would some Iranian leader.
Her ideology is a threat to freedom.

It's this rule of law thing that used to be the hallmark of the English speaking world - the body of law passed by the legislature and faithfully executed by the executive. Arbitrary and capricious actions are not rule of law.
They went after Djokovic because he was unvaccinated and did not believe in vaccination.
They are not controlling borders for the sake of global economics anyway and Omicron spread is all about porous borders.
How ironic that Israel gets the Omicron and Iran sits without it because Israel participates in the global economic system and Iran is locked out.
The last thing they wanted was Novak to actually win and prove a non vaxxed person could be healthy. That type of see it with your own eyes is propaganda to their pathological lockdown fantasies.
I never thought I would see the destruction of western civilization. And look how easy it was. Took only 1 year and a virus to unleash the inner tyrants of liberals. Not a shot was fired and so many just laid down at the feet of Saint Fauci and put on their mask to show fealty. I’m glad my ancestors aren’t around to see it.
