Yes, they should do a full audit, fire, charge, convict, and jail anyone that used fake documents in any manner.

It's not illegal for the cops to lie to a suspect. But I would think any conviction based on a confession extracted from such methods should be thrown out. However, if lying convinces a suspect to provide other corroborating evidence, that evidence should be admitted.

You're not supposed to talk to the police without an attorney, and if someone is stupid enough to do so, that's on them.

Convictions where fake documents were submitted to a court should be thrown out and the police and prosecutors responsible should be arrested and charged with perjury and criminal contempt.
