We escaped Virginia to Tennessee but we chose Knoxville. Nashville is pretty much the Los Angeles of the south and the gov’t. is profligate. They had to raise property taxes 34% because the mayor went on a building binge. Knoxville is sane.
Good post. Other than UT, Knoxville is a good city and great area to live in.
My wife and I love knoxville. Nashville’s a fun place to visit but Broadway, as far as we’re concerned, is their version of sunset boulevard. There is a lot more good live music though. 😁
Had a friend who recently left HI for TN, near Chattanooga. He loves it, he choose TN over TX in part due to favorable taxes.
We escaped Albany NY to Salem Virginia :) Got a house last year in the middle of the bubble and this year we’d be priced out. It may not be absolute freedom but it’s damned better than NY.
