This is because more Freepers have lives and they are not shut-ins who carefully scrutinize every post that comes in.
Most posts "die on the vine" within a few hours.
So duplicate posts increase the chances of Freepers getting the most important information.
It’s not hard to keep track of which posts you have already scanned the titles of. If you see the page has clicked links, you know you’ve been there before and so keep paging. Why is that difficult?

If it wasn’t so prone for selfish people to abuse, having popular high traffic threads bump back to the top would be cool. But the problem is self bumping just to keep their thread up in the limelight even though it doesn’t deserve to be there. The few mess it up for the whole.
This abuse of that system creates a whole lot of animosity between posters, and heartache and work for admin because of folks self bumping their own threads, or bumping threads the majority WANT to slide off and go away. lol :)

I agree. I’d have missed a lot of info over the years without the benefit of duplicate posts.
