My first reaction to hearing he said this was - this is his signal to the DS that he has agreed to a deal with them to become president.
It might sound crazy but I think he is their new Romney. He will get support in a primary to defeat Trump for the nomination.
He wants to be president and there is no way he gets there as long as Trump is around. His conservative support was already crumbling. I think the DS offered him a deal and his signal of acceptance was to call the Jan.6 prisoners terrorists.

I think that whole thing is B.S. He can't run for POTUS because he wasn't born on U.S. Soil, he was born in Canada...he has duel citizenship, he's lucky to be a Senator...
He is a back stabber, a liar, and a few other things I could mention, they all came out in the campaign...
Beat Trump, up in the night...I don't care how much money you promise to beat Trump, it isn't going to work, and wouldn't it be funny if Trump goes to the very end and then says: “I'm not running for POTUS” while all the others have egg on their faces, I wonder WHO this time will make out a Russia Pee Paper on him, or what Bushy said to him about how to control women...

Senator Cruz is the quintessential political climber, seen by all at the moment his luggage landed in
a federal office, where overnight he whipped out his all too ready campaign for the upgrade to White House lodging, much sooner than later.
What he did to Trump delegates at the state level was the plan of action for the national convention.
Smash mouth delegate stealing, trading and stacking against Trump delegates.
It’s not illegal to play hard ball, but evidence that your county Chairman and county executive committees can be machinery if you’re not inside it, to the point in my experience you had to hide your Trump support to even hope to get elected as a delegate to your state convention.
I remember my first thinking that Trump was a miracle to have emerged as the Republican nominee from that National Convention, knowing so many Trump delegates were actually Cruz agents.
On the first ballot delegates had to vote their pledge to candidate Trump and to candidate Cruz. But in tight outcomes, second ballots and can be taken, wherein delegates can drop their pledge to Trump and throw their vote to the other candidate. It was a nail biting feeling watching that convention. A miracle outcome, I thought. God’s four year reprieve for the USA.
