The thing I have works much better and easier than a tea ball, imo. i don’t know what to call it...just ordered it online. it fits across the mug top and has a center cup that when filled allows the tea to steep nicely, and then when done, it just lifts up and can easily be dumped out.

It comes apart in the middle to fill and then snaps back together. You hang it on the edge of your cup. Handy little gadget if you drink herbal tea that doesn't come in its own bag.

I like my gadget better. There is nothing to open or close..it just sits there steeping in the water, then is just lifted out when finished, and easily dumped, without opening and closing : )
