On December 18th he was admitted to the hospital, and he was put on the ventilator on December 23rd. The doctors are guardedly optimistic since only his lungs seem to be affected at this point. All we can do is pray now.
They live in San Diego and were unvaccinated. I wish I would have known about Ruben’s condition sooner so I could have passed on information to help treat him. However, it’s my husband’s family and they’re not big on communication in general, plus we’re in AZ so we don’t stay in touch as much as we should. It’s just all very sad.
I will keep your BIL and the family and hospital staff in my prayers. My brother had problems with his heart and lungs early on in the hospital visit, then on the 7th day his kidneys started going out. I knew that meant his death was imminent. He wasn’t going to come back, and if he did, he would’ve been a shell of himself. Still, I would’ve loved to have been given an opportunity to visit him. I wish his wife and kids would’ve been allowed to be at his bedside at the very end. That part is my biggest problem with all of it. TPTB have had their way with protocols so that not even on their death beds are loved ones allowed to go visit. Not even for a minute. No matter if they were vaccinated and not testing positive. He had the nurse who was on duty that day hold his hand as he passed from this world into the next. I am grateful for that, but it should have been my SIL there at a minimum.
