Gilligan could never be rescued on the TV show - otherwise it would have been over.

That is a show that looks much stupider today than when I watched it as a child.

One show that improved with time is "Hogan's Heroes". Now that I have a more full understanding of WW2 then when I was a child, I appreciate the basic premise of the show much more.

The cast of HH had Holocaust survivors and WW 2 veterans. The humor was bittersweet..

They couldn't be rescued without destroying the series. We all knew it but, it's painful. Why can't they get off the damn island?!

I get that when I watch The Flintstones, I CAN’T believe the stuff that just flew over my head when I watched as a kid, especially the early episodes.

They were rescued in a couple of TV movies.

They were hoping for a reboot like Hotel or Fantasy Island with the third TV movie, “Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan’s Island.”

All they got was a Saturday morning cartoon with some live action bits - “Gilligan’s Planet.”

I hope you know that the Germans really weren’t that stupid.
