Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard sparked a firestorm of criticism on Saturday for their public lamentations about some college football players choosing not to play in bowl games that have no consequence to the pursuit of a national championship. The pushback that they received for their antiquated thinking shows how far the mainstream attitudes have come when it comes to players with NFL prospects preserving their ability to finally get paid for their talents, abilities, and sacrifices.

basically root for laundry…. I have some jerseys from 20 years ago.

True, when coaches change every two to three years, and this second QB is now a starter over there, i have lost interest.

College football rivalries even have become boring. Fans that didn’t even go to any school , WE are better than YOU. As if.

Willis Mcgahee

...In the early part of the fourth quarter during the 2003 Fiesta Bowl National Championship Game, McGahee suffered an injury after catching a screen pass from Dorsey. He was immediately hit by Buckeye safety Will Allen, bending his left knee backwards and causing tears of the ACL, PCL, and MCL.

They are low life people who don’t care about anything but theirselves. This fake “national championship” is more of
the legacy of Obama the retard.

The ghetto destroys everything it touches.

Ask the starting QBs for Utah and Ole Miss if they’d rather not played.

Life is not risk free, he could have gotten injured walking down steps. But when you make a committment to your teammates by being on the team and then abandon them in their biggest game, show’s one really doesn’t care about the team.

To them I would say, go, obviously you’re not a good teammate and with the me first attitude I don’t really want to play next to you, I’d rather play with teammates who actually think team first and that there are bigger reasons than self to play for. Those selfish f__ks that make that decision are scum teammates.

There is no final. There is no playoff structure. It’s just an opinion poll. This fake national championship has destroyed college football.

5 or 6 years ago,(maybe longer), USC Trojans made a concentrated effort to improve the graduation success rate. In 2021 they achieved 81%! for football alone. Anyone notice how well they are doing on the field?

The national champion has always been opinion polls. The current system is better than the BCS, which was better than the national championship by polls (see the bogus BYU championship in 1984 for the low point).

I think this football employment strategy will start spreading into the regular college season next year.

The last NFL players contract significantly reduced First Round pay checks, but guaranteed a four year contract (plus a fifth year team option).

The Top 25 NFL prospects, who are certain they will be drafted in the First Round, really need to think hard about dropping out of college after the eighth or ninth game of their last season.

High injury positions - running backs specifically - need to stop playing college ball even sooner.

Very few running backs get drafted in the First Round - just four in the last three years, and the highest pick was #24.

Why? Because no team wants to pay an injured or hobbled player for four years.

In my opinion, I think running backs should play just one or two entire seasons of college ball, then drop out and declare for the Draft after their third year. You cannot get drafted in the NFL until three years after high school graduation.

“Ask the starting QBs for Utah and Ole Miss if they’d rather not played.”

Then why were they playing? They made a conscious decision to play, they could have said no, I’m passing because I’m a coward and I’m afraid whaaa whaaaa whaaaa. Their decisions tell us all we need to know about them as people and teammates, they’re not cowards or selfish and they’ll be there with their team till the end, they’re not the kind who only think of themselves, they’re true teammates. And their decision to play for the team also proves they’re willing to accept any challenges life, and their decisions may confront them with. They will accept their injuries and use their comebacks from them, or if career ending, the next chapter in their life, and they will use this experience as another character builder that helped shape them into the strong people they’ve become. This experience will only reinforce their character.

Those who do not play in their team’s bowl games are cowards, selfish scumbags and expose themselves as phoney teammates. END OF STORY.

That’s why smart coaches will just focus on recruiting 3-star players instead of 5-star players. 3-star players pretty much know their chances of making the NFL are slim, so they are focused on achieving as much in college as possible, since this is their last hurrah at football.

Their advisors are the ones who will actullynmake the decisions, the players will just go along with them.

Re: "This is now 2022. Can't wait for November."

You will be disappointed.

In 2020, Trump got 12% of the Black vote, 32% of Hispanics, and 34% of Asians. We will improve those numbers very little.

Assuming the GOP gets voter fraud somewhat under control, the best we can do in the Senate is 52-48, and the best we can do in the House is 222-213.

And without RINOs, a Republican majority in either House will be impossible.

Bottom Line - 36 years of MASSIVE immigration will warp every election for decades into the future.

If MASSIVE immigration continues, the game is over for American Conservatives.

American football is a pointless waste of time. Billions of dollars and hours are consumed by the teams and the public in idolizing a sport that has next to no component of skill when compared to other athletic undertakings. Large millionaires and soon to become millionaires bumping into each other to some small advantage is the basic theme. Only professional basketball is more trivial.

Coaches are hypocrites because they have incentive clauses in their contracts and make big bucks for playing in nothing bowls, so they push players to play in meaningless bowl games, while declaring that the games "allow extra practices and the opportunity for younger players to showcase talents".

When the older players sit out and allow the younger ones to play, the coach screams and uses that as an excuse for being unprepared and losing. (Mike Leach, Mississippi State)

Mike Florio is an idiot but he's spot-on with this one.Players owe nothing to their universities. They've had 3+ years to prove their worth at the next level. Another game facing top notch competition isn't worth the risk. Players are now opening their eyes and using their power. Peer pressure won out in the past but now there's more money to consider. Can't blame them.

Perfect answer for the "Me" generation. Those players have 100 teammates who were there for them, showing up everyday doing the work so the "star" can develop his skills and showcase for the NFL. The 100+ were there every day, every game for the team. The "self centered, it's all about me" star tells the 100+ to go pound sand for what is probably the biggest game of their life. The star doesn't care that without that 100+ he would be looking for a job at 7/11.
