They had to pump this up to “PANDEMIC WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE” levels to justify the vote by mail scam. Now they have to slowly, gradually back off the lie. it took far longer than I thought. I figured by summer it would have been over with.
But when totalitarians get a chance at ever more power, and they have the chance to wield it, it’s hard to give all that up.
As long as new variants are reported, this will never go away.

Me too. Last May, the mask “mandates” faded away in most places and life was pretty much normal until, as per their script, they trotted out the “delta variant” in July. Masks came back at my workplace and I thought, “here we go again”.
The pressure must be getting to them and some powerful people must be taking it too hard in the pocketbook finally, because they seem to be gradually backing off day by day.
We’ve still got 10 months until they need the cheat-by-mail system again, so who knows what they’ll come up with between now and then. But we can now say that it’s “an election year”, so that may have an effect on how they carry out their master plan.
