We had field trips to chickamauga a few times, love Lookout mountain. Almost went to college there.

Goergia- I went to Airborne Jump School at Ft. Benning, GA, and parachuted into a drop zone over in Alabama. While under canopy, after my parachute opened, I whimsically note to myself that I have never been in Alabama, but- I am about to set foot there... thanks to Uncle Sam.

On my 7th grade field trip, we went to a Civil War era Confederate Prison (housing Union soldiers)- Andersonville Prison, and... Warm Springs, GA, the summer White House for FDR. Also, a stop at Ft. Benning, GA, home of the US Army’s Airborne Jump School.
