The issue with 5G rollout around US airports is a disagreement that the 5G at the frequencies approved by the FCC will interfere with radar and altimeters used by the planes.

While 5G is used at other airports around the world, the closeness between the frequency bands in our 5G and in the frequencies used by the aircraft are thought not to be far enough apart, thus the potential for bleedthrough and disruption of information being relayed.

Which is kinda important when you are flying a commercial aircraft.
