I was just reading an article about the commercials these days. I have noted this for awhile now - very few white men, and if they are there, they’re doing the laundry, worrying about if their dishwashers are getting their dishes clean enough, or baking cookies. They’re all very feminine and not too bright. Plus, every couple in a commercial up here is now a mixed race couple. The kids in commercials are all of color, Asian, or have Down’s Syndrome. Commercials have gone full woke - if you watched commercials here in Canada, you’d think there was a very small minority white population.
Yep....I started noticing it even more, after all of the corporations went Burn Loot Murder woke. It’s like it’s a requirement for any ad to be aired....must...have...mixed....race....and....white....man....dumb, to pass their requirement test.
What percent of the population are these mixed couples?
And, how many white men head up these advertising firms and “woke” corporations? Just curious.
The commercials had been that way for awhile, getting worse. White men are always the stupidest.
I've seen a few threads on this lately, and haven't responded. I agree with all that you said. They all make white guys look like dufuses or gay, which is bad. However, I have a little different take on this.
Previously, we used to see 1 black person pitching a product. It was generally an entertainer like Shaq, Samuel L Jackson, Iced-T, Oprah... If advertising works & it must, because companies do it, then I think the newer commercials showing a "regular" black family, in a middle-class home setting advertising products is good. It shows minorities can be "regular" people & don't have to grow up to be entertainers. They can be doctors, stock brokers, have an in-tact family who drinks iced tea, or uses Keytruda or whatever. Black fathers can serve breakfast to their kids, just like white people do. I don't see it as a problem, in general.
As for the mixed raced couples, I don't see a problem with that either, in general. Now, it has gotten a little out of hand with 1 person from every race, but generally I don't have a problem. Where I live, there are many, many mixed couples. My wife, who is Filipino, has 5 brothers & sisters. 4 of the 6 kids married "outside of their race". I see many parents of kids at school are mixed. I hate saying this, because I just see people as people, and don't really notice race, but when I make a conscious effort, I see many mixed couples.
Actually, I don't see racism anywhere I go. I know it exists, because I see it on TV & in the news, and I'm not naive, but in everyday life I don't see it. Now, people could just be civil & public, and are really racist when they get home, but who knows. When I drop my kid off at school, or see kids hanging out they aren't necessarily segregated. All kinds of kids hang out together & date kids of other races.
For years my kids have played on teams with Latinos, Blacks, Asians... and never a problem with the kids or parents. Never heard a word about race. My kids have played on teams from Santa Ana, Compton, all over & with every race. They have even traveled with the Compton team & roomed with different kids overnight. Never once a problem.
Just my observations & two cents.
