This GITMO situation is another instance of something happening behind the scenes that we don’t have the full scope of.
At its peak, there were over 700 detainees at GITMO. Currently there are 39.
Why are they adding an additional courthouse (Among other things) with a declining prisoner population?
What are they anticipating?
In January of 2018, Trump issued EO 13823: Protecting America Through Lawful Detention of Terrorists

It is interesting that the section pictured from Trump’s EO doesn’t necessarily state terrorists, but just states “the US may transport additional detainees to U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay When lawful and necessary to protect the Nation.”
Can’t wait to see how this plays out!

“There’s good modeling studies that probably half a million excess deaths have happened in the United States through the intentional blockade of early treatment by the U.S. government.”

I’ve been remembering the article about the Army National Guard recruiting trainees for civilian detention duty. IIRC the training was to take 10 weeks, the ad came out around September. I have the article and the NG page on a usb someplace.
The recruits have finished their training now.

Oorang posted the links originally, later I’ll search through my documents and post em. Above on Patel Patriot’s thread he posts more info about Gitmo, contracts, EOs etc. Steaming Pile - oops, I mean 0bola tried to close GITMO via EO his second day in office. Nothing happened.
While the Biden administration wants to close the Guantanamo prisons, a major construction project is underway -- including an additional courthouse for the military trials + expanded classified workspace. @CBSNews told cost + 15 million NOTE: Detention camps SEPARATE Navy base. pic.twitter.com/vu0vCOA1Zw— Catherine Herridge (@CBS_Herridge) September 6, 2021
Another Herridge tweet from the same day:

Trump plans $500M spend on Guantanamo Bay constructionDespite President Biden's goal to close the Guantanamo Bay detention camps after a review, @CBS_Herridge reports a multi-million construction project is underway including an additional military court + expanded workspace for handling classified intel pic.twitter.com/4ZNrZPknmx— Catherine Herridge (@CBS_Herridge) September 6, 2021
Biden set out to close Guantanamo From a Feb 12, 2021 NPR article:
The DOD is again doing something different than what the Biden Admin is publicly saying they want.
I could be wrong, but my understanding is the original contract with Vectrus Systems has built-in options to continue working on specified projects. The April 22, 2021 agreement was exercising option one.
So this appears to be a project started under Trump now being fulfilled under Biden's "presidency".
I searched computer and USBs and could not find the original article that Oorang posted that I (was sure) saved. Finally found it online. If anyone can determine is this just one position or more than one, I’d appreciate it.
