Lady Liberty always assumed the gender of her own sex. As depicted on the Morgan silver dollar, she was a bit portly, but that was the trendy look in 1878. Fat was considered beautiful because it conveyed wealth.

Indian Liberty was always male until Sacajawea. Because nobody knew exactly what the real Sacajawea looked like, I viewed the squawbuck as a fine return to Indian Liberty with a female twist.

I'd like to go back to Lady Liberty and Indian Liberty on our coins.
