I just read this as
Just had a mess of Chinese food, dog and cat. Also got some chicken on a stick, minus the stick.
A group of 8 very old gentlemen arrived and filed into the chapel single file. These sweet old gents were there to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ to us alcoholics and drug addicts on this cold holiday evening.
These guys were old! The most senior of the was 103. The rest appeared to be 80ish, and they had been serving together for decades.
In spite of their frail elderly outer appearance I got the distinct impression of their inner men being absolute badass warriors fearlessly marching into war to do battle on my behalf and I was moved with gratitude, and I still am to this day typing this through tears.
One if the gentleman went to the front and preached a Christmas eve message from the book of Acts, chapter 12 verses 1-11.
He read the verses and expounded on them, asking us men how many of us had been in prison, and how God had sent an angel to whack us on the side and wake us up from our slumber, and how our chains had fallen off and we were led out of our prison of sin and into freedom from bondage.
Thank you for your post reminding me of that life changing beautiful evening I got to spend with faithful soldiers of God and that I am still benefiting from that night all these years later.
Blessings!
Merry Christmas!
Not this year, thankfully.
Just found this to listen to tonight. God Bless you all!
That’s gotta be the sweetest thing I ever heard. Lettuce pray.

The last time I was put out, was Christmas eve at my brother’s house. He loved to serve lasagna for the meal. I can’t eat the spicy food, and my dad didn’t like pasta. So that year, I called and told my brother that I would be brining something that I could tolerate. I mentioned that dad (87 yo) didn’t like lasagna. My brother said that my dad could go hungry.
I gave my dad 1/2 of my meal. He didn’t realize what was going on and complimented the hostess for such a delicious meal. This pissed off my brother and his MIL. It got very nasty. (as a survivor, when it gets really bad, I shut down) I do remember leaving, stunned and not trusting myself.
I was put out because I stood up for my dad, I didn’t want him to be hungry. I was not liked by my family because I got sober. This threatened them. I am the only conservative, non-union member. I know that it doesn’t make sense. As my mom died, I held her hand. She said that she didn’t know I was so nice. I thought because you wouldn’t let me be nice. I just told her that I got the nice from her.
Me too. I got sober 3/20/1988.
It sounds like you were at the Salvation Army. Woke or not, I have a special place in my heart for them. They do so much good for we drunks.
For me, it’s really no different
Except little or no traffic moving, like it was when we were “slowing the curve “ for 2 months
I am. I’ll see my Dad and his Fiancee tomorrow morning, and then they’ll go to see my Sister and her sons. I’m not invited because I’m not vaccinated.
We celebrate God’s arrival on the earth ‘in the flesh’....
I was with my mom alone too when she went to be with the Lord.
Good Christmas Story...
“Chinese food, dog and cat”
Yu stirfry?
I’m solo tonight and tomorrow and enjoying it. Picked out some good food for tomorrows dinner and snaking tonight. Watching Christmas flicks I haven’t seen before.......and thinking about what the night of His birth was truly like for those who were there.....imagine three Kings/Wise men showing up with gifts at a stable to welcome the King of all Kings...amazing!
I prefer “A Christmas Carol” version of Scrooge over all of them.
Enjoy the night and tomorrow,
In Him,
CAWW
I do believe that was the best Christmas eve of my entire life..... so far anyways =)
My family completely splintered over Politics and Vaccines - Everyone is on their own rather than be with Family - Fauci wins...
Here. My nephew tested positive so the big Christmas shindig got kiboshed. Going to see a sister tomorrow.
