Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said on Wednesday that coronavirus “vaccines are saving lives” and “are reducing mortality.”
“If you are vaccinated, fully vaccinated, the chances of you getting seriously ill or dying from Covid is effectively zero,” he said. “If you look at the people being admitted to hospitals, over 95 percent of them are either not fully vaccinated or not vaccinated. And so these vaccines are saving lives.”
DeSantis also touted the vaccines for reducing mortality rates.
“They are reducing mortality. Mortality in nursing homes since we rolled out the vaccines in December is down 95 percent due to Covid. Mortality for elderly people since we rolled out the vaccines is down nearly 90 percent,” he said. “So we’re proud in Florida that we put seniors first on that list because they were the most vulnerable. We have 85 percent of our seniors that are vaccinated and about 75 percent of folks over the age of 50. We have no mandate. We’ve provided information to people and we’ve been very honest about any data that comes out.”
DeSantis acknowledged that some vaccinated people “can test positive … but they don’t get seriously ill in except maybe rare instances, there’s always one-off on stuff.”
However, continued the governor, “in Florida, your chance of surviving if you’re vaccinated is close to 100 percent.”

For original strain, and probably delta, this seems true. For Omicron, probably not, and also, it doesn’t matter.
All of those participants on Free Republic who said they were dumping Trump because he was pro-vaccine and supporting Desantis... what say you now?

He is absolutely correct.
What is important to me -- the only thing of importance at this point -- is mandates. That is, although I disagree with him about the "vaccines," as long as there are NO MANDATES, because he's so good -- so conservative -- on nearly everything, this is a disagreement, not a dealbreaker.
LOL! I’ve never agreed with EVERYTHING he did and don’t now. Others, believe or get tagged.

I posted this on another thread and might as well post it here:
I have no problems with people getting the vaccine and even advising me to get it.
I draw the line at COERCION and THREATS.
Trump and DeSantis as another example, simply encourage people to be vaccinated, they do not mandate.
The problem is mandating vaccination has now produced a divisive effect everywhere where the vaxxed see the unvaxxed as selfish bastards who don’t care about people’s lives and vice versa.
This has now produced hostility even against President Trump ( and I would bet against De Santis too ), who have never forced people to be vaccinated even though Trump was most responsible for helping make the vaccines possible in the first place.
Think clearly folks! Trump and DeSantis might not be anti-vaxx, but they are pro-choice when it comes to Covid vaccination.
You might think they are wrong headed in their recommendations, but they aren’t evil villains like Biden and some blue state governors and mayors are.
“Purists”: “Desantis is a TRAITOR! He’s no better than Pelosi or AOC! I’m not voting for ANY of these RINOs!”

If Trump had not come out in such strong support of the vaccine would DeSantis?
I get where you’re coming from (we’re having the same debates in our home), but I think DeSantis has become more skeptical since then. Neither one of them wants mandates and that’s what really matters.
So the china flu is 99.7 % survivable. Most of the people are dying form the jab. It is safer to refuse the jab and save the government $1000 and take the less risky way out.
Trump endorses then too.....guess we need to write him off of vote consideration as well. (S)

Let’s leave the vice-resident out of this.
For some people the vaxxes could be a godsend.
But that should be the individual’s call.
And we should have informed consent.
The fact that we don’t have the latter two is thanks to Deep State.
Trump and DeSantis are NOT the problem.
The vaxxes are NOT the problem.
Deep State is the problem.
Deep State is the enemy.
People lose sight of that at their peril.
