Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said on Wednesday that coronavirus “vaccines are saving lives” and “are reducing mortality.”
“If you are vaccinated, fully vaccinated, the chances of you getting seriously ill or dying from Covid is effectively zero,” he said. “If you look at the people being admitted to hospitals, over 95 percent of them are either not fully vaccinated or not vaccinated. And so these vaccines are saving lives.”
DeSantis also touted the vaccines for reducing mortality rates.
“They are reducing mortality. Mortality in nursing homes since we rolled out the vaccines in December is down 95 percent due to Covid. Mortality for elderly people since we rolled out the vaccines is down nearly 90 percent,” he said. “So we’re proud in Florida that we put seniors first on that list because they were the most vulnerable. We have 85 percent of our seniors that are vaccinated and about 75 percent of folks over the age of 50. We have no mandate. We’ve provided information to people and we’ve been very honest about any data that comes out.”
DeSantis acknowledged that some vaccinated people “can test positive … but they don’t get seriously ill in except maybe rare instances, there’s always one-off on stuff.”
However, continued the governor, “in Florida, your chance of surviving if you’re vaccinated is close to 100 percent.”

I’ve had covid so there is no way I would get a vaccine. Wife had it too. Covid was pretty tough on me. I’m 62 years old. If I did not have natural immunity I would probably get the jab.

Sort of misleading…as it appears folks on BOTH sides of the “vax” aisle have mistakenly thought this was a RECENT statement, akin to Pres Trump’s.

Do you have any issue with DeSantis and Trump telling people to do something that may be very harmful?
Don’t think for a second that “Republicans” will be judged the same as Democrats, if something goes wrong.

I agree and I’m heartbroken that both say this. I wonder if they know something we don’t. Like ‘we the people’ will not win this fight. We will be forced to obey or suffer. They have many, many ways to do this. I’m sick to my stomach.

Maybe the vaccines have saved some lives in the short term - since no other treatment was allowed - but the long term looks very questionable.
How did they rethink?
I took the antibodies when I was sick. Last January.
Vaccine Corps have 100 billion dollars to spend for bribes and setting up blackmail. They’re buying victory.
That may or may not be true. There is a lot of groupthink in those professions.
LOL, dude, article is 5 months old. But even so the issue is and has always been not about the vaccine itself but being FORCED to take it against ones will.
If you don’t want it (like me) then do not take it but don’t jump on someone who simply advocates for taking it of their own free will whether 5 months ago or today.
