I would have to wonder about anyone who wasn’t profoundly affected by being in space and seeing the universe in all its immensity.
If you recall, ‘68 was rather an awful year. Riots, Tet, Paris barricades, HHH running for President...the story is that one of the other astronauts told Borman that “you saved ‘68”.
That was probably the least of it. What he did was very clearly communicated to the rest of mankind that we are part of something far greater then we can ever imagine, and we shouldn’t forget that.
