No apology needed here. I went back at my comment and realized that it could easily have been taken not as I intended.
Some really young Doctors were making bad decisions on ventilator settings. Some of my coworkers are also young and not familiar with the culture of a ‘Teaching Hospital.’

I worked in another hospital years ago and I observed that some RTs were killing people in all sorts of peculiar ways, typically neglect but sometimes it was by not honestly assessing their patients.

A very common problem was a lack of humidification. Ventilated Patients have their ‘upper airway’ by passed, so then the nose which is important in providing moisture has no function, thus the artificial humidification must be closely monitored. Usually it is with heated water from bags or bottles. Those things empty fast especially if the heaters are set high on high respiratory rates. There are also HMEs (Heat Moisture Exchangers) which must be changed regularly. Patients can seriously be impacted lacking humidity. All RTs must understand relative humidity and other geeky stuff.

Ventilated Patients are not able to mobilize their own secretions and so airway suctioning must be done frequently, and sometimes they need a lot of it. Not suctioning Pt’s is serious neglect and so typically it is a shared responsibility between. Nurses, RTs, and certain other credential workers, Docs, NPs, PAs, others, and maybe Students under supervision.

For the Residents and Medical Students often they really do need to be held by the hand when writing ventilator orders. I usually felt uncomfortable correcting them, but over time I got used to it, and when the results were positive there were smiles all around. Experience really matters.

I have been distressed for months now that I was compelled to retire many months before I had intended. The bogus Covid Virus simply taxed my body too much. I told my boss and others that ‘The Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

These days I work part time in a novelty store selling shirts, hats, flags, toys, and junk for less than 20% of what I could be earning. That is not involving the incredible pay rates that some of my friends are now receiving because of this out of control farce. These villains who designed this ‘plandemic’ have ruined my career and possibly my financial security.

Sorry for going off here, but as a Health Care worker, I know that I did a lot of good and I saved many lives.

——-

I understand now. As a professional it was just as stressful dealing with inexperienced residents/students as it was watching this play out “in real time”.

I do admire our health professionals who have maintained the frontline without complaint and then to be discarded like so much rif raf.

I was ventilated back in 2017 with respiratory failure. There were many things going on with me including, but not limited to pneumonia. It was caring professional s such as yourself that Saved My Life.

Thank you radix, and apologies for any hurt I may have caused you.

KC
